Land Trust elects 2008-09 officers,
appoints new board member

Washtenaw Land Trust Officers and Board of Trustees

July 2008

The Washtenaw Land Trust has selected its new officers for the 2008-2009 term.

Family lands protected forever: The Sullivan property.

Officers for a one year term expiring June 30, 2009, are as follows:

  • Guy O. Williams, President
  • Phil Surratt, Vice President
  • Janet Crone, Treasurer
  • James W. Govert, Secretary

The new member of the Board of Trustees is:

  • Scott Simonds , Trustee.  Mr. Simonds is Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan (U-M) School of Public Health where, in addition to his teaching and research, he held several administrative posts between 1966 and 1994. He has served on the Governor’s Environmental Education Task Force, as well as on the Board of the Friends of the U-M Matthaei Botanical Gardens and as chair of its membership committee.

      The first land trust in Michigan, Washtenaw Land Trust is a group of over 1,000 individuals, families, and organizations working together to protect the natural areas and rural landscapes that make our community a great place to live. To date, the growing organization has protected 66 properties totaling more than 3,647 acres throughout Washtenaw, Jackson, and Ingham counties, through voluntary land conservation.
